Insurance often
covers our services
Insurance plans are increasingly offering coverage of naturopathic medicine.
This is both insurer and plan dependent. Coverage often ranges from 70-100%
of services. Verification of coverage by calling the phone number on your
insurance card is recommended. Or, you can also call our office and we will
verify coverage for you.
For all consultations, payment is expected at time
of service.
While insurance may cover naturopathic care, we do not process insurance
billing in our office. Instead, you are directly reimbursed by your
insurer for costs as agreed upon in your policy. As a service to
you, we have created a reimbursement form to submit to your insurance
company. This form is filled out by our staff in our office and mailed
directly to your insurer. Insurance reimbursement will go directly
to you. Again, if you do not know if naturopathic medicine is covered,
you can call your insurer or call our office and we will check for
you. We are happy to work with you to ensure maximal reimbursement.
As a policy, we refuse to compromise your care to fit insurance guidelines.
We will, however, do our utmost to get you reimbursed for services
provided.
Cancellation Policy
We require a 24-hour notice for cancellation of an appointment. Unless
we receive 24 hour notice, we will charge you a $25.00 fee. We realize
that a day’s notice may not always be possible, therefore we
allow for one “grace” cancellation at no charge.
Laboratory Policy
Laboratory work ordered in our office is often covered by insurance.
If there is any question regarding coverage, we will verify it with
your insurer. For our local patients, our provider is OML laboratories.
Our non-local patients can obtain laboratory work from Quest, which
is our national provider. Both Quest and OML will bill your insurance
company for you. For our patients without insurance, payment for laboratory
services directly to our office allows for a discount on labs. This
discount can also be extended to patients who know their insurance
will not cover their lab fees. (Please note: In the state of Oregon
it is not legal for a physician to profit from labs ordered. All laboratory
fees in our office are billed at cost.)
Supplements
Supplement purchases are separate from fees for services. Payment for
supplements is expected at time of purchase. While reimbursement for
supplement costs by your insurer is rare, it does exist. The receipt
you receive from our office provides a description of each item with
its cost.
